Community Theatre Workshop

On July 9, 2005 the Mississippi Theatre Association will sponsor a Community Theatre Workshop in Starkville , MS . The workshop is being hosted by Starkville Community Theatre and will be held at Starkville Community Theatres' Playhouse on Main .

The goal of the workshop is to bring community theatres from around the State together to learn, share ideas, and to network to assist in developing even better theatre programs in the State. There will be something for everyone, for the novice and the expert alike, for the orderly board member and the artistic actor.

“We hope that people from new community theatres as well as some of the people from the well established community theatres will participate in the workshop” said Stacy Howell, Community Theatre Division Chair for MTA.

Sessions will focus on cutting production for competition, achieving technical excellence in community theatre, grant writing as well as community theatre legal issues. There will be plenty of opportunities for individuals to network and talk with people from all over the state.

Registration is $12 for MTA members and $18 for non-MTA members. Registration information and a complete schedule can be found online at http://www.mta-online.org . Registration is required.

The mission of MTA is to foster appreciation of and participation in children's, college, community, high school, professional, and university theatre in Mississippi by sponsoring festivals, workshops, and retreats; communicating with members and the public; acting as an advocate to government agencies, business, and the public; recognizing excellence in performance and production; and sanctioning representatives to regional
festivals.
