Over the last four days, MTA 2015 Festival attendees had a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and showcase theatre in Mississippi.  The Festival brought to the University of Mississippi 7 community theatre productions, 8 high school productions, 2 staged readings of new original works, 7 10-Minute Plays, 7 Theatre for Youth productions, and over 100 entries in Individual Events.  During the festival we also saw over 70 student participate in College/University auditions.  We had 17 schools in attendance; 9 community theatres represented at the festival; and 12 colleges/universities participate in College/University Auditions.

We are very pleased to announce that we have 4 excellent productions that will represent Mississippi at the Southeastern Theatre Conference this year.

The winner of the Dominic J. Cunetto Award for Best Production went to Oak Grove High School’s production of Zhengtu and the Runner-Up Best Production went to Pearl River Central High School’s production of Lady White Snake.

The winners of the Warren McDaniel Award for Best Production went to Tupelo Community Theatre’s production of Lone Star and Starkville Community Theatre’s production of A Catered Affair.

The Theatre for Youth High School Best Production went to Oak Grove High School and the Theatre for Youth College/Community Best Production went to MGCCC Perk Players.

Congratulations to all of the theatres that participated in the various Festivals.  We appreciate all of you sharing your talents — teaching, educating and entertaining everyone who attended.  It was truly a wonderful weekend of theatre and one that will not be forgotten!
