10-Minute Play Festival

2007 Festival Awards

The 10-Minute Play Festival provides an opportunity for students not involved in the High School Festival to expand their horizons and hone their skills. Each school sends 4-6 students to participate by serving as actors, directors, playwrights, assistant directors, etc. The students are put into groups of six students—all from different schools. The student serving as the playwright, writes the 10-Minute play based on a topic provided by festival chairs. Once complete, he/she passes it to the director who casts and directs the show. The plays are performed and adjudicated in front of an audience Saturday evening (24 hours later). From all accounts, the 10-Minute Play festival was a huge success again this year! The students love the interaction, the experience taking control of their productions and working with students from other schools.
