Notes on MCC's McCain Theatre The McCain Theatre is basically an auditorium used as a theatre. The Floor Plan for the Festival indicates the proscenium opening at 46' when the Act Curtain is open completely. We have to use the Act Curtain to create masked wing space- since the auditorium was designed without a proscenium wall S. R. and S. L. You may adjust the curtains and stage legs as needed for your show. For the Festival, a black curtain will mask the upstage area to provide set-up space for the upcoming show. It will be flown for set-up and break-down time. The curtain is split in the middle for entering and exiting U. C. when in place. The playing area is 16' deep, but can extend to the lip of the stage apron that is 10' deep at C. Width of playing area is determined by masking the stage curtains. The teasers fly and are at 14', but can be adjusted. Sets can be unloaded at the loading dock, which is located at the west end of Ivy Hall. It is 31" high. The entrance door to the Workshop is approximately 90' from the loading dock. Sets can be stored in the Workshop before going on stage. The Workshop door is 83" X 58" as is the Stage Door. The Sound and Light Control Console is located in the left rear of the auditorium. We have a Peavy Sound Console, CD and Cassette Decks available. The Lighting Console is an ETC 24/28 Express. We have hardwire headsets that connect backstage to the Sound and Light Console and to the Balcony Follow-Spots. We have enclosed a map of MCC's Campus and how to get here from Interstate 20. Lighting Information Since we don't use CADD for light plotting, the enclosed light plot is our own creation. We didn't use a standard template to symbolize the various lighting instruments; instead, we have used small letters to plot the instruments positions. The numbers are the dimmer circuit positions. The Key on the Light Plot correlates the letter to the type of instrument. The enclosed Lighting Hookup Sheet shows the focus of the instruments on the 6 acting areas. Each area has a warm/cool wash (bastard amber and special lavender.) Also have a full stage wash of Amber and Medium Blue. Dimmers 9 and 10 (Source 4's 26 Degree) are for specials from the Balcony Rail and can be focused and gelled as needed. (Please bring your own frame and gel.) Two manually controlled 1500 watt Quartz Follow-Spots are available and are not on dimmers.
