The Secondary Division is one of the most active divisions within MTA. Each year, there are three regional festivals which pre-qualify schools to attend the Mississippi Theatre Association's Festival. The regional festivals are hosted by Mississippi State University and the University of Southern Mississippi.
The division also hosts continuing education / professional development workshops to assist teachers teaching theatre arts. CEU credits are typically given for attendance at the Festival/Convention and for the continuing education workshops.
- Mandy Kinney serves as the Vice-Chair for the Secondary Division and representative for the North Region.
- Juniper Wallace services as the Chair for the Secondary Division and representative for the Southeast Region.
Regional Festival News:
- The North regional festival will be held on December 5 & 6 at Mississippi State University. For more information contact Jo Durst.
- The SE and SW regional festivals will be held on December 5 (SE) & 6 (SW) at the University of Southern Mississippi. For more information contact Robin Carr.
- Teachers: Please note conflicts with state testing.
- Productions that cannot be performed at the 2007 regional festivals.
[Check back in August as these rules are being updated.] NOTICE: All theatre teacher planning to participate in one of the Regional Drama Festivals must review the recently revised MTA Rules and Guidelines prior to the regional festival. The MTA Board met this summer and accepted the revisions to the Rules/Guidelines as proposed by the Secondary Review Committee that was appointed by the President.
