College and University Theatre Professionals,
Planning is well underway for this year’s MTA Festival. This year the festival will be held on January 15 – 17, 2021. The MTA Board of Directors have decided, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, to make this year’s festival a virtual event. It will be a unique experience, but we are excited about the opportunities that this will provide.
The Junior / Senior auditions will be recorded, and participating Colleges / Universities will receive access to a Flipgrid with all of the auditionees’ videos and you will be e-mailed the auditionees’ information. You will receive access to this Flipgrid and information on January 11, 2021. You will have contact information to reach out to students who you may be interested in attending your institution.
In addition to this, MTA is setting up zoom times for colleges / universities, during the MTA Festival, in an effort to connect you with potential students.
With there being less opportunities for face-to-face connections, MTA is also offering colleges / universities an opportunity to broadcast a 30 second commercial throughout the broadcasting of MTA 2021. If you would like to air more than one commercial, MTA will be selling additional on air commercial time, instead of ads, for this unique online festival.
All of these benefits will be included with your $75 college registration fee. Registration will be available on September 1, 2020 at http://www.mta-online.org/divisions/college-university-division/.The deadline to register and to submit your 30 second commercial will be December 15.
MTA is also looking at the possibility of hosting workshops during MTA 2021 (time permitting). MTA is also planning additional to host virtual workshops throughout the year for teachers, students, and community theatre personnel. If you would be interested in hosting a workshop, please sign up for this as well.
Thank you for all that you are doing during this unique time in theatre history. If you have any questions, or ideas, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Sadie Shannon
