space

Earlier this year (March) I sent an e-mail to you with some ideas regarding the MS/KCACTF and asked for your feedback. Based on your feedback and subsequent conversations I would like to share an outline of the proposed events for the next three festivals.

On November 7th and 8th of this year there will be an “Alternative Mini-Festival” in Hattiesburg, MS.*  Next year the University of Mississippi has agreed to host a full festival, and in fall 2010, MUW has offered to host a festival with the understanding that productions will be performed in it’s three-quarter/ thrust space. More details for 2009 and 2010 will follow as they emerge. For now, let me tell you about this year’s event.

*This years MS/ACTF will take place in Hattiesburg, and will be jointly hosted by University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University. Each of these universities will present a full production in their own space. The remainder for the time will focus on student preparation for the Regional Festival and will include opportunities for students to learn about the individual competitions in which they may participate at the Regional Festival: Irene Ryan Acting competition, Design Displays, Stage Management, etc. There will also be a time when the faculty from all attending colleges and universities can meet for discussions and planning sessions.

The schedule will look something like this:

Friday November 7, afternoon: welcome/opening
Friday November 7 , evening: USM Production at USM
Saturday November 8, morning: workshops and meeting on USM campus
Saturday November 8, afternoon: WCU Production at WCU

Please remember that any production you mount at your own school may be considered for the Regional Festival. The details for this and most other questions regarding KCACTF can be found at http://www.kcactf4.org/index.html.

You may also contact me for clarification of any of the procedures for participating in KC/ACTF.

There will be more details regarding November 7th and 8th to come, but please put those dates on your calendar and plan to attend with your students.

Please let me know that you have received this mailing, as the yahoo group mails sometimes fail without notice.

Thank you,
Peppy
