Recent MTA Events

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Thank you “all” for your help with the coordination and participation in the secondary / community theatre workshop that was held at Tupelo Community Theatre. It was a great two day event that showcased Dex Edwards and his prop making and painting expertise! It was a treat not to be missed. Rusty Scafidel was incredible with the light workshop, Greg Pirkle simplified the legal side of theatre, and Ken Bolinsky showed us how easy it is to be involved in Poetry Out Loud. Tupelo Community Theatre also had an “incredible” production of Crowns! Congratulations to the cast and crew of the production!

Thank you also for your participation with the recent Town Hall meeting in Ocean Springs. It was a fun networking opportunity hosted by Sandra Campor at Ocean Springs High School, and Ken Bolinsky took time once again to bring Poetry Out Loud center stage.

We are having a great year! Break-a-leg at dramafest! MTA Festival will be here before we know it!

The Scotland Travellers have returned!!

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Hi everybody! I just wanted to thank everyone who supported Oak Grove High and Oxford High through our journey to get to Scotland! I think I can speak for both schools in saying we had a wonderful time!
Oak Grove’s “Jungle Book” had sold out crowds at every performance and Oxford’s “Man of La Mancha” was given a wonderful review by the Fringe report! So everyone should be very proud of the high schools from Mississippi !

Code of Ethics for Theatre Workers

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

If you love theatre – this is a must read. While this was written in 1945 it has some guiding principles that we all know and try to live by in the theatre but seeing it written down really emphasizes the “credo” that we all know.

Shakespeare Abridged in Ridgeland

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

This show is directed by Richard Lawrence and will feature Cory Drake, Brad Bishop and Bret Kenyon. These guys have been working hard to put this show on, some come see it! Show times are 7:30pm Friday and Saturday nights and 2:30pm Sunday afternoon. The show will take place in the Ridgeland High School Cafetorium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Call the theatre for more information at 601-953-0181 or visit our website at www.centerplayers.net

A hilarious, breakneck comedy, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) has three comedians making their way through all of the Bard’s plays (and some sonnets, too!) in less than two hours. A wild frolic through the works of Shakespeare, you’ve never seen the classics performed like this. Complete with a hip-hop Othello, and the histories performed as a football game, this is Shakespeare for those who don’t think they like Shakespeare-and especially for those who do! As London ‘s longest-running comedy, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) is chock-full of sight gags, physical humor and irreverent foolery.
