Theatre Workshop OpportunityDon’t Miss This Professional Development Opportunity! Are you looking for an opportunity to learn more about theatre arts? Are you looking for a means of networking with others from around the State that have a similar interest in theatre? Does your theatre program need additional expertise in lighting, set construction, grant writing, or curriculum development? Interested in seeing the location of the 2010 MTA Festival? If you said yes to any of these questions, the Mississippi Theatre Association’s Theatre Workshop is for you! The two-day event is geared toward teachers and community theatre leaders and volunteers alike. Rather than hosting 2 different workshops this year we are hosting a combined workshop for both communities – theatre teachers and community theatre members. The workshop will include some joint sessions and some breakout sessions based on theatre division. Understanding that the benefit of this type of workshop comes from networking, we have built into the schedule sharing / networking time as well.

Shakespeare Abridged in RidgelandSaturday, June 6th, 2009This show is directed by Richard Lawrence and will feature Cory Drake, Brad Bishop and Bret Kenyon. These guys have been working hard to put this show on, some come see it! Show times are 7:30pm Friday and Saturday nights and 2:30pm Sunday afternoon. The show will take place in the Ridgeland High School Cafetorium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Call the theatre for more information at 601-953-0181 or visit our website at www.centerplayers.net A hilarious, breakneck comedy, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) has three comedians making their way through all of the Bard’s plays (and some sonnets, too!) in less than two hours. A wild frolic through the works of Shakespeare, you’ve never seen the classics performed like this. Complete with a hip-hop Othello, and the histories performed as a football game, this is Shakespeare for those who don’t think they like Shakespeare-and especially for those who do! As London ‘s longest-running comedy, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) is chock-full of sight gags, physical humor and irreverent foolery.
