Playwright George M. Calhoun in conjunction with the Mississippi Humanities Council shares his experience of turning true stories into theatrical drama.
Tumblin’ Down – A Journal’s Journey
Want to create a play from journals or diaries? Here’s how. What must be done? What are the pitfalls? Playwright G. M. Calhoun shares tricks and tips of fashioning true stories into theatrical drama. A representative from the Mississippi Humanities Council (MHC) tells how old interviews discovered new life through the Center for Oral History & Cultural Heritage. Included is a presentation of the end result, the commissioned one-act play TUMBLIN’ DOWN. Free scripts of Tumblin’ Down will be available at the Keynote courtesy of the MHC.
